Katrina Kaif is home alone

Few sights are as sad as a beautiful woman left alone at the end of the day. That’s Katrina Kaif for you – rich, famous, envied, sought-after, but utterly alone. The fact that she has to come back after day’s work to an empty home and none to share the dining table with, has been taking a toll on her health.

Katrina says her mother Suzanne who runs a charity in south India can’t move to Mumbai to give her company and her seven siblings are all busy with their lives in different part of the world.

“It’s just me alone at home… and I honestly don’t know what to do….I’m alone so I don’t bother with my meals,” Katrina tells a tabloid.

The 25-year-old stunner said she’s started to miss living with a family.

Katrina Kaif’s new ‘serious’ agenda

After her reel tryst with the murky world of politics for her film Raajneeti, actress Katrina Kaif now wants to meet the real women of power and that’s her new serious agenda.

In fact, her director Prakash Jha couldn’t even understand her level of seriousness, but was soon made to realize it so that he can make the arrangements for Ms Kaif to meet the leading ladies of Indian politics like Delhi’s Chief Minster Sheila Dikshit, Congress spokesperson Ambika Soni and the elegant Congress member Priyanka Gandhi Vadhera.

Now that’s quite serious. Actually, Katrina observed these ladies minutely to prepare for her character Indu in ‘Raajneeti’. Jha had even given Katrina video recordings of Sheila Dikshit, Ambika Soni, Priyanka Gandhi and Indira Gandhi to watch and learn.

The excited actress is now getting ready to meet them all but regrets that she can’t meet Indira Gandhi. She is quoted as saying: “My only regret is I can’t meet Mrs Indira Gandhi. Apart from my mother, she’s the woman who has inspired me the most.”

Well, according to a daily, Prakash Jha also wants the government to be positive about his film. As the movie deals with a political scenario, the director is hoping that once these ladies of the ruling party watch ‘Raajneeti’ they’ll recommend the film for exemption from entertainment tax in main centres. Movie Review: Paiyaa

Movie Review: Paiyaa Movie: Paiyaa

Director: N.Lingusamy

Producer: N.Subash Chandra Bose Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja

Cast: Karthi, Tamannaah, Milind Soman Lingusamy is a past master at packaged entertainment. His latest Paiyaa is a road movie laced with mass elements and extraordinary songs picturised in a stunning manner. Fasten your seat belts and enjoy the ride.

Credible performances from its lovable lead- Karthi and Tamannaah make up for the plot holes that threaten to eat into this otherwise engaging ride. Technically it is Lingusamy’s best work enriched by Mathi’s eye-catching camera work, Antony’s crisp editing, Rajeevan’s exotic set designs and above all Yuvan Shankar Raja’s foot tapping music.

Shiva (Karthi) is a young man who is on the lookout for a job and he comes to Bangalore for an interview with a bunch of friends. He sees the pretty Charulatha( Tamannaah) at the bus stop ( a la Run) and falls hook line sinker for her. And much to his surprise, his dream girl who is in some trouble, mistakes him for a driver and asks for a ride to Mumbai.

Now both the people are on a journey from Bangalore to Mumbai and the rest of the film is how they bond, face challenges, realizes that the journey was more beautiful than the destination and finally fall in love. The film is all about the hero meeting his dream girl and how his past catches up with him on this road trip.

Leading man Karthi’s first outing at attempting an action film is quite impressive with his macho looks. He competently delivers what’s required of him in the action scenes, lending grace to his chop-socky moves, including stunning sequences in which he beats up dozens of goons single-handedly. Tamannaah is there from the beginning to the end and is gorgeous. Milind Soman as bad guy is wasted.

The songs of Yuvan Shankar Raja scorches just like the desert sun. The background score is perfect co-ordination with the narration. Yuvan’s music is the film’s trump card, with meaningful lyrics by Na. Muthukumar. All the five songs in the album are rocking, making it difficult to pick the best of the lot. We will say that Thuli, Thuli… and Adada Mazhada… are the more popular of the lot. Suthuthe Suthuthe… is a knockout, with terrific choreography by Sabeena Khan shot on a real beautiful set created by Rajeevan.

On the downside the film moves at a leisurely pace and the plot line is riddled with holes. In the second half especially when the couple reaches Mumbai the story plods along leading to a predictable climax. But if you are looking for just fun and entertainment Paiyaa is a jolly good ride.
